Grrr…. Arrrgh.

MORE WHEDON TRIVIA!!! (I’m so nervous for tonight!!!)

The sequence with the Mutant Enemy mascot, the little monster that goes “Grr Argh” at the end of all episodes, was changed for a total of six episodes:

  • in “Becoming Part Two” (#2.22) it said, ‘Oh, I need a hug.”
  • in “Amends” (#3.10) it wore a Santa hat and bells were jingling.
  • in “Graduation Day Part Two” (#3.22) it wore a graduation cap.
  • in “Once More With Feeling” (#6.07) it sang its “Grr Argh.”
  • in “Storyteller” (#7.16) it sang, “We are as gods.”
  • in “Chosen” (#7.22) it looked out at the viewers instead of looking straight-forward.

And don’t forget - Tara (Amber Benson) actually said “Grrr…Arrrgh” with a small monster puppet in “Barganing: Part 1” (#6:01)… SO META.

REVENGE OF THE WHEDONITES

Since the BF has to work today, I have been force-feeding myself Joss Whedon trivia all day in preparation for the all-Joss Whedon quiz at Geeks Who Drink on Tuesday, and at the same time having a Dollhouse marathon. I have (with exception of two episodes) watched all of season one.

A small sampling of things I have learned in my trivia studies:

  • NPH originally auditioned for the role of Simon Tam in Firefly (Played by Sean Maher)
  • Jeremy Renner was on Angel, as the season one villain Penn (a vampire sired by Angel who sought to reunite with Angelus but was killed by Kate… ya’ll remember Kate, played by Elisabeth Roehm, who was ADA Serena Southerlyn on Law & Order, one of the few in the Whedon stable not to return to the fold.)
  • There are only eight actors to appear in three of Whedon’s tv shows. No actor (no, not even Nathan Fillion) has appeared in all four.

Things that I have learned in my Dollhouse rewatch so far are…

  • Eliza Dushku looks a lot more like Sarah Michelle Gellar than I remember
  • I love Fran Kranz just as much this time as I did the first time… Maybe even a little more. Maybe it’s because I just saw Cabin in the Woods and I just rekindled our love affair…. he is SUCH a good fit for the Whedonverse.
  • Miracle Laurie was way more Hollywood Homely than I thought - I remember her being a little more than just awesome curves. Also, for some reason, I always thought of Tahmoh Pennikett as a blond, and he actually has quite dark hair.
  • Knowing what happens with Boyd makes the first season SO FREAKING CREEPY.
  • Also, DUDE… WHEN DID ALAN TUDYK GET SO BUILT. MAN HAS A GUN ARSENAL. Also, I love that he plays crazy so well.
  • It makes me sad that Fillion wasn’t on this show… I think he would have made a great guest star as a client or as a bodyguard or something. *cries*

That all being said? I feel like if other people can cover Angel, I have a pretty good handle on the rest of the Whedon tv stuff. Right now, I have just consumed seven consecutive hours of Dollhouse and I’m a little overstimulated. I need to consume light and fluffy for a while. Then I can go half and half on season 2 (tonight/tomorrow).
